i echo ur view!!
ekam sat vipra bahuda vidhathi,
god is omnipresent and also omnipotent
everything is his manifestation and yet dwell in there

actually!! there isn't any abshikem for the reddish moola beram (which is a suthai vigraham) which was believed brought out from sri ranga mandhira, abshikem only performed to a small idol (silaa vigraham) at the feet of the deity and also to the utsava beram (panchaloka vigraham). in this video clip it is a replica made for the movie and fictonalised abhisekham

God is not a statue, the statue is what the worshiper uses to train their mind on god. God may borrow a statue for such things, to encourage pious and respectful behavior, to remind the worshiper, or to teach. A statue can be holy and auspicious-- but if you think God can be limited to a statue, then you are the one in error. God is everywhere, and in everyone: that's the meaning of Namasté.
