I will be producing and directing a documentary from January to July 2010 in Nijmegen. As part of the pre-production, i opted to conduct some test shots on the Kodak Vision 3 500T with different exposures and with the internal 85B filter of the Nalcom FTL1000 active. This is an assembly of the shots i managed to get from 100 feet of film stock. Although the stock is grainy it does give a nostalgic tone to the shots. Music By Taylor Hayward (www.taylorhayward.org)

  • @lauriesaluji The stocks are getting better and better! A good scanner and a better color correction makes all the difference. You should check out the final shots from the documentary where the colourist did a better match and the scanning was frame by frame. Anyways, thanks for your interests. Your comments are appreciated!

  • @thepachy Yes I did narrow the aperture but not too narrow. I compensated the shots with an old Arri matte box... Blocking out all lights! I have rescanned this same film in 4K which I will post soon. It's different!

  • Hi,

What camera + lens did you use to shoot these tests?

I just bought ten rolls of the vision 3 super 8 myself.

    Good luck with the documentary.

  • Hi saladofgenes, thanks for your comments. i used the Nalcom FTL 1000 with the standard Shiknor 6.5-65mm 1.8 lens. The documentary is completed and will be in the theaters from the 20th of October 2010.

  • Nice :)

  • Thanks Marek for your positive comment. I'll keep you posted.

  • I am curious. Did you have to narrow the aperture to compensate for the high ISO of the 500T? I believe the Nalcom FTL 1000 is listed to be able to handle up to 160- Daylight and 250- Artificial. But maybe that is just the old listing based on the film available at the time?

  • I enjoyed these shots - could you let me know how you are getting on with the documentary please? Thanks!
