Funny...I was in the car & this just popped in my head. I said aloud "Your arms are too short to box with God." My boyfriend asked me why I was quoting Nas. I said "I have no idea what you're talking about. This is a play from the 70's. " He said that Nas had said it in a song. Anyway I told him how my dad had this album when I was little and how it used to scare me when they sang "Come on Down." My father used to play this to get me to stay in my room when I was on his nerves. Thnx for posting

@DeiidraYvonne: Thanks for your comment! The last part of it made me laugh. I'm glad that I could bring back memories and now that you mention it, "Come On Down" is kinda scary. Lol! It also reminds me of one part in THE WIZ, when the crows are pickin with the Scare-Crow.

I saw this play in the 80's it would forever change my life. It stared me on journey as an actor/singer/comedian. At the time I was a drummer at my church the next I wrote and performed in the church Easter play. This takes me back. Please post more

Man!!! We saw this play in Los Angeles back in the 70's. I remember they were actually shouting and dancing on the floor! We were in the balcony It distracted the play and delayed it for a minute, but it was excellent.  Couldn't see it with Patti I believe she had surgery at that time (something to do with her throat). Excellent play. Had the LP, but made the mistake and let someone "borrow" it. Haven't seent it since. (Heavy sigh!!!)

@hyacinthb: I feel what you're saying. I've heard SOOO many stories about how some friends let folks borrow their albums/CDs and never received them back. I've also had times where I lent a CD to a guy I went to school with, and he ended up letting someone borrow it from him. Between the 2 people, my CD was damaged and they both played dumb! I don't lend anything out anymore. Lol!

I remember going to see this with my mom and a bunch of {then I thought} OLD PEOPLE! We had such cheap seats and had to walk up so far I remember saying very loud "If we walk up any higher our arms wont be to short to box with God" Everyone on the stairs fell out laughing!!!!!

were doing this play at my school this year. im playing mary. the funny thing is that mary was portayed as big mama and im 4'9" lol. but it is amazing. i just pray i can do the role justice
