I live in the tropics on the Island of Borneo and although I love the concepts of these Earthships I cant find any info on whether they will be practical in high humidity conditions. Tyres, cans, dirt, and plenty of rain and sunshine I have but the design will surely have to be different for equitorial Earthships? please anyone help to direct me to such info cheers....

very creative and intelligent designs ... interesting to see the capacity to build in
and utilize harsh environments

would be interesting to know rough numbers on the costs of materials, design and
supervision, numbers of hours labor involved, etc

hopefully the legal structures of the communities are conducive to their positive
longterm viability

Hey Mike, charge what you want. As soon as I get my custom details worked out I hope to submit them to you for suggestions and blueprints. Your technology is the smartest thing I have ever seen in home design. I cannot wait to live for free for the rest of my life. Long live the Earthship.!!!!

Hey asshole, here is your clue. PEOPLE HAVE A RIGHT TO EARN A LIVING!!!! If you do not like it, DONT BUY IT!!!! It does take thousands of dollars to get his knowledge. Hundreds of thousands in fact. Do you even know how much this man spent on legal bills in the last decade? How many years of college, study and practice do you think it took to learn what he knows? I'll bet it is a lot more than you are willing to spend. That's why you pay for it. At cost. You really are a fucking idiot.

OK, so Habitat for Humanity builds in conventional (i.e. not earth-friendly) style. Duh. Their mission is to build cheaply for the poor. Maybe Habitat is not the group to take up building Earthships, but what I wanted to know is whether there is any organization at all interested in helping low-income families build healthy houses that would help them cut their utility costs.

There are a few that teach low impact building that also have workshops. One I can think of is Kleiwerks.Whatever group is helping Brad Pitt rebuild neighborhoods in New Orleans is also worth looking into, but I do not know their name ,but they are extreme,y energy efficient and I think they mix up both conventional and non-conventional resources at this point.
