  • So you mean to tell me that paying utilities is BS? It's so sad that there is a way for us to live with out paying for lights, water, heating and cooling when it's absolutely FREE!! I CAN'T WAIT TO LEAVE THIS GREEDY ASS PLACE!! UGH! Damn yo!! I'm getting an earthship but it will look nice. OMG!! BUY MY LAND BUILD MY HOUSE AND BE UTILITY FREE!!! THAT'S THE MOVE!!

  • Can you do a floor plan/design for a GREAT looking earth ship with multiple floors as big as a mansion, but which doesn't consume as much energy?

How much would it cost to build?

  • It would be awesome if you could have an internet connection in an earth ship. I wonder how we could make that happen?

  • "given the right circumstances, entire cities could be build without infrastructure" -THIS IS THE FUTURE! this is great work! so many cool ideas combined, the most functional design i've seen. and its more than theory, its proven to work. kudos!

  • I suspect the 10 dislikes are white bankers sick at seeing others helping their fellow human beings prepare for the new world, where MONEY can't be grabbed in rent or taxes. ;-)

  • energiedurable.secondes <--information about energy renewable

  • My feocy and I want to build one in weld country Co. As a wedding gift to each other. We're excited about getting our green dream home one day

  • @wisyakman A concrete wall as thick as a earthship wall would be a good base for a mall or such, we are talking 8 stories or more. However you could imagine for a bigger earthship structure that you would use concrete as a central structural core but using dirt walls for insulation. Just to a an idea, a 4 story structure with columns in a 19 feet grid, each column have a cross section of about 1 square feet, with low quality concrete.

  • @wisyakman Yes, but it is not ideal for two reasons.

Concrete is an ideal structural material with high loadbearing capacity. However it is not a good insulator. A very thick concrete wall does give you thermal mass, but would be expensive since you only need a small fraction of that wall to actually sustain the structure.

Secondly concrete consists of gravel, sand, cement and water. Cement is a very CO2 producing substance and you will be using a lot more if you use concrete.

  • Please don't yell at me, but can the tires be filled with concrete instead of earth?

  • @GETBIZZYTV1 ditto!
