This is the first Gillig bus I've heard of that uses the Cummins B-series (ISB) engine. Now I do know that the hybrid models probably use that to drive a generator (or whatever it's called) which provides power to some sort of electric motor that drives the wheels. What I'm saying is that I've never heard of one using that engine as conventional power before. Seeing that's it's a 2006 model, I assume that it's using the 5.9L version.
SO thats why the sounds are different .The Isb and Isc sound some what the same but the Isc 8.3 sounds bolder louder grunt than the isb 5.9 to 6.7. The Isl sounds different because a high pitch werr rev whine noise. The DD 6v92ta has the same noise whine on the nova RTS or 1991 Gillig but Detroit 6v92 has a higher rpm . I bet some of you guys own Diesel pickup trucks
*The ISB(6.7) descends from the 6BT(A)5.9, which is also popularly used in Dodge trucks. For 2007 the bore and stroke was changed to 4.12" and 4.87" respectively fot a displacement of 6.7L.
*The ISC(8.3) descends from the 6CT(A)8.3.
*The ISL(9) is in essence a stroked ISC (5.69" stroke for the ISL as opposed to the ISC's 5.32" stroke)

Yes, since they used the 6.7L version starting in late 2006 (2007MY) which is also governed at 2600 RPM.

That of course also had a low-powered Detroit 8.2 "Fuel Pincher" engine if I recall rightly.

The ISB is governed to 2600 RPM while the ISC and ISL are both governed to 2200. The Detroit Series 71/92 and 50 are all governed to 2100 RPM.

@broncosbill u need to drive the new gilligs we got they have a horrible suspension and have no power on take offf u always late with one of them

@leem9977 The worst bus is theVillager SBMTD had them in the 90s and they had horrible suspension and the seating arranement sucked
