British band The Members performing Working Girl at the legendary King Tut's City Gardens nightclub in Trenton, NJ. D.J. Randy Now turned what was just an empty warehouse with a liquor license into one of THE most important venues of the emerging American New Wave/Punk/Alternative scenes. Just about every major act of the genre played here either on the way up or on the road down to fame.

Check out the crowd after the band finishes...at about 6:20 and 6:52 you get a taste of a typical CG dance floor scene...ha ha.

  • I was there !!!

  • long video cause they had to have their 15 minutes right?

  • I treasure my memories from when I had the pleasure of working with the gang at City Gardens. I love you all and miss you and the club a lot. We had the very best club ever and the best people working there.

  • @cmsanto57 Not necessarily correct. Frank envisioned a BLUES club. He didn't know what "New Wave" was, as Randy has said in numerous interviews since the 1980's, Frank's response to a new wave Dj was "What's a New Wave DJ" ? Possibly in New Jersey Monthly magazine 1983-1984.. His envisioned blues club did not last, but frequently the club had blues artists perform thru the years.

  • @cmsanto57 - this was randy's sow Booked thru FBI / Ian Copeland. British TV crew in the house.

  • The lead gives thanks to Randy, who did book excellent bands at City Gardens, but this was Frank Nalbone's show, he booked it. Frank was the owner of the club and sometimes booked bands. Randy left City Gardens in 1982 (I think) and didn't come back until a few years later. This may have been during that time. Frank Nalbone, by the way, thought up the idea of the club, from his days in New York City as a college student in the late 70's, it was his vision and his club. Just my .02$

  • How many sleeveless black shirts can you fit on one stage and how much feathered hair can you fit in one crowd? The answer lies in this video......

  • Holy shit! Wow! thanks for posting this, Nicky Tesco (The Members lead singer) looks a but like an Eddie Izzard character!

  • Great place to see bands for cheap.

  • jeez! 7 mins. the stairway to heaven of generic 80's britpop!
