This is the second part of a series of videos that I am releasing as my album draws closer to the finish line. You should subscribe if you are interested in music, recording, mixing, tracking or anything that has to do with this because I will start from the beginning of a recording and take you all the way through to a finished album. The whole process is being documented.

Quick info about me: I'm just a guy who is trying to achieve a personal goal which is to single-handedly write and produce a full-length album. All instruments are played by me.

I will try to answer any questions in the comments so just ask away if you wonder about something I forgot to mention in the videos.

Thanks to Andy Sneap for hosting a great forum over at the ultimatemetal.com forums.

  • @arlo4823 I thought it was OK at the time I made it but I can understand if it distracts you. We're all different. The point of background music is to keep it slightly more interesting since the way I talk is boring as fuck. oh and good thing I'm no professional trainer then :-)

  • the finish on ur kit is actually the best finish ive ever seen....holy fuck!

  • @ciaranm789 Haha can't say I'm a fan of it though! Would rather have something matt instead of shiny.

  • whats the music in the background?

  • @heartkiller93 As it says in the beginning of the video: it's cloudkicker in the background.

  • hey, when i hit the toms they sound awesome live, with just the perfect amount of sustain, but when i mic them they sound like a dead thud, almost like the bass drum. how can i make the tom sound more natural

  • @kzone92 Sounds to me as if you have your toms tuned way too low. Something called "JAW" tuning which stands for "Just Above Wrinkles". That means you tune the tom up just enough so that the wrinkles are sort of gone, which gives a very fat attack and low sustain but this is not how they should be recorded :) I'd suggest tuning them up a little bit instead.

  • Themusic bed is way too loud and overpowers the narration. Why people insist on laying down music under the narration is foreign to me me. It's so annoying and is opposite of what any professional trainer would ever do.
