I need 10 hours.
But I usally only get 7-8 hours and wake up
feeling like I have been beaten on the head.

Some people need 10hrs but its usually adolescents or people in early 20s who have a different biological rhythm/clock than older adults. Some people are larks going to bed early and wake early; others are hawks and go to bed late and sleep late. Getting RESTFUL sleep is the trick.
