Oglala Lakota bead and quill artist Emil Her Many Horses began his artistic career when he was in junior high school. He learned from tribal ladies who were patient with him and recognized that his bead lines were probably better than theirs. Emil is also a curator at NMAI (National Museum of the American Indian) in Washington, D.C. by day. This year, Paul Niemi of http://unclepauliesworld.blogspot had the opportunity to speak with him at the 2011 SWAIA Indian Market about his submission piece which was a phonograph with a hand-beaded horn in the Woodland Sioux floral style.
