They are already making mention of the Pacific Northwest getting the current snow storm.. however further west.. out over Hawaii right now.. we see the tail edge of the large low pressure system still well to the west off the coast of California.

This very large powerful system may be coming to the US... hard to tell if it will pull north over Canada.. but it looks (right now 11am CST 1/17/2012) like it will stay a bit south.. bringing some severe weather to the South Central California coast before coming ashore. and pushing through north America.


Recap = first storm coming ashore now.. winter weather warnings issued from the Pacific Northwest east through Montana... south through Utah.

The SECOND system (currently still fairly far off the west coast -- arm extending to Hawaii) may bring a larger push of weather in over the west coast of the US..

we shall have to wait a day to see.
