"More Than You Know".
Jack Payne & His BBC Dance Orchestra.
Vocal chorus by Val Rosing.
Recorded, London, November 25th 1930.

I am not sure if 'dance banders' really associate Val Rosing with Jack Payne's band but he recorded with the BBC Dance Orchestra on some excellent records during 1930 and 1931.

Val Rosing is to be found singing on Jack Paynes' records of 'Goodnight Sweetheart', 'You're Driving Me Crazy' and a particular favourite of mine 'You're The One I Care For'.

Jack Payne Perfection as I am sure jackpaynefan will agree??!!.

Enjoy 'THE' Premier British Dance Band.
And, I urge listeners to hear the TRULY WONDERFUL version of this song by Layton & Johnstone also.

  • This is really nice!! Jack Payne had such sophistication!

  • He was THE GREATEST!!.

  • According to "Dance Bands on Record" Val Rosing recorded no fewer than 35 issued titles with Jack Payne and this is one of their best .

This delightful tune is played with style and panache - a joy to hear.

  • Thirty five!, I wonder how many Elsie Carlisle made with Jack?, can't be many?.

  • Elsie Carlisle recorded just one song with Jack "Ten cents a dance" on 31st March 1931.

  • You see, I had an idea it wasn't many!. Never heard that particular delight though.

  • Great band and extraordinary vocalist. Thanks a lot!

  • I love British dance bands of this period. They had something quite special in their musicianship and arrangements. Thanks.

  • Really nice arrangement of the tune.Val Rosing is usually associated with the other BBC band (Henry Hall)particularly Teddy's Bears Picnic and Sun has got it's hat on.Jack Payne finished his life in very poor health and running an off license in Kent.He should have stayed another couple of years at the BBC as he was still on the up in 1932

  • One of my favorits, nice tune to begin my new life.
