I've been smashing since N64, and I thought I was pretty good until I started watching tourney vids. I don't get pro play at all. It's too precise for such a horrible control sceme. It's all exploits really, like cancels and grab chains and shit. It's pretty lame, and attempting to do it nearly ruined the game for me. It's just no fun.

@pikaprince1345 By the Pikachu thunder example, I'm assuming you know nothing about competitive Brawl. If a character has an absurd advantage on a stage (e.g. Metaknight, who is already the best character in the game, on Skyworld) then the metagame becomes based around counterpicking, and it isn't fun anymore. Basically, the competition should be in fighting, not stage picking.

You know, each character deserve equal advantage on the stage because that is when you prove your skill. Do you wanna win fairly or unfairly? For example, i wanna beat Meta Knight fairly to prove my skill worthy. In this video, CPU beats Ken but that doesn't mean he is better than Ken because the match was unfair. ugh

Well technically you could turn off the more hazardous items such as bombs to reduce that randomness. Brawl was designed around items so taking it away not only takes some of the enjoyment out of it for some ppl but also makes the game more unbalanced then it already is.
