Today I went for my first appointment at Carter Orthodontics to get my first Invisalign aligners! I was very excited and a little nervous. The main thing I worried about was how uncomfortable the aligners might be at first. Having seen both of my teenage boys go through Damon Braces with Carter Orthodontics, I was expecting a bit of pain on the first day. Thankfully, it was not bad at all. The boys didn't want to bite down on food at all and requested milk shakes. I was able to eat dinner with no pain at all. Certain teeth are definitely more sore than others but I took some Advil and they are fine. Read my blog posts at http://www.smilecsra.com

  • I'm shopping around for braces and am considering invisalign..when do u start seeing results and is there a change in the way u talk when they're on cuz I don't wanna sound like daffy duck and last question how much do they cost?

    Thanks.

  • @Raul1Silva I saw results on Day 1! I came home with the aligners in and my husband noticed right away that the space between my teeth was gone. You can definitely see changes within the first month or two. There really isn't any noticeable difference in the way I talk. Sometimes the "th" sound is hard as well as "f". But no one has ever mentioned that my speech sounded funny and I'm in front of clients every day. Cost varies. Mine were around $5K.

  • I am starting mine in a couple of weeks I am psyched just the pain I am nervous about cuz I heard its very tight and I will be on cranky mofo in the beginning I think atleast lol.

  • @BRONXPEPE It is sore but it really isn't that bad. Advil helps a lot and it's really only the first day or two that your teeth are sore.

  • @BRONXPEPE Just take some Advil and you'll be fine. When you switch aligners do it at night before you go to bed. And take Advil before you make the switch. You can do it!

  • Word of advice, when you put on new tray do it the night before. That way you sleep during the time of pain and by the time you wake up the trays are a hell of a lot easier to take off, especially if you have attachments.

  • @makemyownpath I agree. I put them in before I go to sleep and take a few Advil. There are sore in the morning but I've slept through most of it. By the next day it's a lot better.

  • Ive had mine on for a day so far! It is pretty painful, only with my upper teeth. Ive been taking 3 advil every 4-6 hours and its helping quite a bit. They already dont hurt as much as they did yesterday and im getting use to them pretty quickly! :)

  • @CarterOrthodontics Thanks I am 11/28 trays down since I posted last wrote I am use to the pain I take motrin whenever I feel the pain is bad thanks for ur input.

  • @makemyownpath Yes, I definitely put them in at night before I go to bed. The most pain comes the next morning when I take them out to brush my teeth. And then when I put them back in again. It's momentary and it passes and Advil makes it manageable. Sometimes I get headaches after a new set of aligners or some jaw pain. Again, Advil works like a charm. Thanks for your suggestion!
