@irishxxkelt thats pretty much the view of British Romanies as well who would run a mile before associating with Irish Pavee Travellers. They are feril, hot headed, fight, and do so many things we have several words in Romaines for them and they arn't nice. While they parrade about on the media showing "gypsy culture" when there isnt a single drop of romani in them and come to Britian and cause chaos. Then we get the blame and hatecrimes against us especially in the media.
@MsOneiroi77 Exactly. There was a two-day article in the Irish Times about 2 weeks ago about travellers in Ireland and even people who work with them consider them problematic. Ask any Irish policeman his opinion about them and the reply would be unprintable...........
@irishxxkelt thank you, the media jumps on the gypsy label not realizing there are more than one group who have no cultural associations. The Big Fat Gypsy Wedding show presented Irish Travellers as romanies now people think all gypsies in Britain are Irish. I think its a label many Pavee want to confuse non-Travellers because they have tarnished themselves and their communities reputation in ireland for so many years, so much they latch on to another cultures identity.
@MsOneiroi77 I feel sorry for the British Romanies when Travellers are referred to as Gypsies, because they are not honest. In Ireland they are called knackers, which is offensive to them.
@irishxxkelt I couldnt agree more gypsies originated in India I happen to be a British Romani. The Irish travellers are indigenous to ireland and therefore Pavee Travellers and not Romanies.
@MsOneiroi77 Romany/ Romanies are Gypsy people who originally came from India. I have spent hours researching this and read a BOOK ABOUT GYPSIES YEARS AGO.....
