On December 11th, 1972 the last men to land on the Moon, touched down on the lunar surface. The lunar module Challenger, landed in the Taurus Littrow valley with Commander Gene Cernan, and module pilot Harrison Schmitt. In addition to setting up additional instruments for ALSEP, they made discoveries such as orange soil, and brought back over 100 lbs. of moon-rocks.
I have made a special presentation using new Apollo XVII related data. On October 1st, 2009 NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter imaged the Apollo 17 landing site. I have enhanced the image for us to flyover, and listen to the sounds of the mission. Please enjoy reliving the Apollo XVII experience, and continue to support a manned spaceflight program beyond low Earth orbit.
