This is my favorite Verdi opera. Some of the scenes, particularly Phillip's Monologue and the duet with the Grand Inquisitor are a testament to Verdi's Genius. I love the father son relationship here. You don't get to see it that very much in Verdi. Mostly father/daughter conflicts. In my opinion Ghiaurov was the best King Phillip, although I do love Siepi in the role.
