As a Democrat and an Obama supporter even if he did not endorse Obama and chose McCain I would still have a vast amount of respect for Mr Powell. He is the kind of Republican I can get along with.

Well u are a rarity. Now Democrats are falling over themselves to Kiss Powells arse. Most democrats used to dismiss as an "Uncle Tom" and the hatred for Powell from demonocrats skyrocketed when he presented America's case for the war at the UN.

Powell may still have that U.N. presentation on his conscience, but at least he had the decency to resign in disgust afterwards.

He's made the right choice here.
