In this video, I explain the home warranty coverage when dealing with an A/C system. Please look at your own home warranty plan. To see what is covered under your home warranty plan, Not all plan or companies are the same. Thanks,
There shouldn't be a problem re-using the line set and the indoor coil. They must be flushed to remove the old lubricant, and the thermal expansion valve must be changed (More primitive capillary tube etc should be be changed to a TXV.) . It's a comparable number of labor hours for the installer to replace the line set and evaporator, and there's much more to material to mark up, so more $/day by replacing. BTW the ODP wasn't the rationale - for R22 -> R410a its a greenhouse gas fairy tale.
y choose a 410A coil? If u use r22 condenser and a 410a it will be ok, but if i go to switch to a 410A condenser down the line replace the coil again due to different oils. Sure the lines can be flushed but the oil sits in the evap coils and should be replaced if r22 was used before.
originally R-407c has thermodynamic properties which are quite similar to R-22 which works much the same way without replacing any component of the system that works with R22, Today ι converted a fridge from R22 to R407c without changing thermal expansion valve and oil and maybe it works better. I'm a HVAC tech 12 years now and when I started we usually work only for R22 and R12, now theirs R134, R407, R410, R404, R507 etc and not think their less harmful to the ozone ,its all about business...
These newer EPA regulations are not about ozone or AC or anything but control. If this happens lots of folks cannot afford to replace the AC. That is exactly what the do gooders want. Less electrical use, less pollution, or so that is what they tell you.
Bring Out The Lube....I've been an HVAC&R tech nearly 40 years now, and all I can say about this new phase is....BEND WAY OVER GULLIBLE PUBLIC, cause thanks to the verminous Dim Liberals; we're ALL about to take it right up our tailpipes yet again.
@vrejian You can thank Carrier for that. Carrier came up with the name "Puron" But yes I agree.

@TheDaIkeMan
I would go with the R410A coil.

@TAXOPAREI
I think if you were at least EPA certified, then you'd know the ODP of a CFC, HCFC, and a HFC.
