Karachi: A City At War With Itself - Pakistan

To many he's the Mother Theresa of Pakistan. Every day Sattar Edhi collects the dead from the streets of Karachi for burial.

Around him, one of the world's biggest cities is descending into chaos. Edhi's massive graveyard outside Karachi looks like a war cemetery. In a back street police pick up yet another victim although there is little hope of catching his murderers. Karachi's economy is fuelled by drug dealing, gun running and bribery. It's a black joke that when the police hear gunfire, they run in the opposite direction. A millionaire businessman has developed Karachi's only computerised investigation system to try to control crime. But avoiding the battlegrounds is becoming more difficult. We follow one injured woman to hospital where there's little hope of saving her life. Small businesses and shops are too afraid to open and it's difficult to sell anything legal. For many of Karachi's orphans Sattar Edhi is their only hope. Interview with Benazir Bhutto.

i grew up in karachi...live in germany now and i must say karachi is such a beautiful city that deserves the better!...edhi is definitely one of the rare good-willed personalities that we do need more of in pakistan...first and foremost we are humans that should treat others as humans...despite the content of political agenda! PEACE!

I am a pakistani american, and am sad to see this. Pakistan was made to help the muslim people that left india find their own home, but look what we have done to it. We took that gift, and we turned it into this joke. Its sad. I pray that things become better, because, if not, the country of Pakistan might not even exist in the future. There will be no place to call home.

Oh and to all the people saying "terrorist" and all that stuff, please, just look at these poor people. Feel pity. Not hate

Pakistan does not have right to exist. It will be stable only after division of Pakistan. Pakistan as an idea came into existance only 50 years back, where as Balochistan existed since 7000 years. Pakistan is an aritificial state. Thumbs up if you like.

Indians and Pakistanis here, I am an Indian. Respect the man who is doing a much needed service to the city. Arey maa ki yaa behen ki chut pe lund lagaane se kya fayda? What is this depraved conversation? Pakistan & India both need internal peace. I am a Hindu & I don't hate muslims. I have many Muslim friends to whom I wished Eid Mubarak just 2 days ago.
