A garbage bag balloon is inflated by reacting aluminium filings with sodium hydroxide and water. Finally the balloon is incinerated in a calm and gentle manner.

  • awwww.... All that work and no bang. Better luck next time

  • Oh the Humanity !

  • Norge man!

  • I am sure you are learning and having fun but they can be dangerous.

  • Try taping a firecracker to the side of your garbage bag balloon, and lighting it before you let the bag go up into the air? I would like to see that on your web site! I know that if you did that at ear level you would need protection.

  • @a4d2d0 bad idea... the string can burn quite fast & light it too soon...a classic visco fuse is a lot safer, but still, it's efectively a flying bomb...

  • Soak the string in gasoline or Alcohol, and light it while the balloon is in the air. That would be cool

  • use a wine bottle instead of plastic

  • Thats incredible! nice job! just the amount of string the ballon was able to lift impressed me. I think im gonna have to build me a Hindenburg now.

  • @ryanhall2013 no, just the burning of the gases! I LOVE science, and i LOVE hydrogen even more! Ive done experiments and have created hydrogen before, and its awesome! sometimes people dont mean the video was stupid, just maybe the climax wasnt really a climax.
