I have new pair of Arc'teryx gore-tex pants that I just put to the test. I found that you can't sit on anything wet for an extended period without yourself getting wet. Gore-tex is not a magical one way membrane and one must be able to have their body heat drive the moisture out.
I have piles of gore-tex clothing rdrfn555. And no I can't afford them! lol
@MrDi11 you need to take care if it. wash it with nikwax or grangers. and re apply the dwr with a spray one treamment. If you just expect it to always be waterproof, your sweat and body oils will eventually cause the membrane to delaminate and, more commonly, cause the seam tape to peel, stopping waterproofness. Gore stands by their products so if you have stuff thats not waterproof anymore, even if its due to you not taking care of it, gore will replace it.

Gore-tex durability! Hmmm... I have never had a Gore-tex product stay water-proof for more than a few years.
