Last I saw the Tu-144LL he was in excellent shape, and could have flown to the USA. Unfortunately, my seller found he could not do the deal he once said possible, and the plane never made appearances outside Russia. Sad. Our buyer wanted to end his project with a flight to Farnborogh in 2002. Had we made the flights, RA77114 would have been the only Russian aircraft at Farnborough Air Show in 2002. It was not to be. Military NK-321 engines were the only reason my partner and I reasoned could have caused the problem.
Most likely theory we have is that the Russian M.O.D. had concerns about the engines possibly being impounded on foreign soil, as they were part of the Tu-160 (nuclear) bomber program. That would be a valid concern, but we were never told. So it goes... Another enigma wrapped in a very fast and beautiful airplane, and part of history that drove 4.7 million hits to tejavia.com.

  • What is the condition of RA77114 today?

  • It is a real shame. Russia should be proud of their achievement, just like us British and French with Concorde.

The TU-144 may not have been nearly as successful as Concorde, but it was still a huge achievement.

  • At least park it under cover for another time it is made of a nations dreams.and deserves better.

  • wow sad y would you leave it out side see they are worst than we knew ,

  • @MrWoodoop

There is no piece of evidence that suggests the Tu-144 copied Concorde. The fact that you come up with these stupid assumptions and make them out as if they were facts makes you look pathetic.

The TU-144 was based on the T-4 bomber design, which was Russian. The nose design which you may think is a "copy" of concorde is actually taken from the T-4 Russian bomber.

    Grow up.

  • @MrWoodoop You`re just stupid jerk))) it`s an amazing plane!!! And because of government it hasn`t got long flylife.

  • this video makes me happy. the cheat of a tu-144: on the ground where it never deserved to leave.

  • @qwertdr it was a huge scandal of a copy of concorde. copying is not an achievement.

  • @AirlinerTube It could be used only on the ground at this point. In 2001 I was the broker who offered it in eBay as the sole authorized broker representing Tuploev AHTK. The buyer and seller's expectations turned out to be too far apart unfortunately, although over $10 Million USD was offered in escrow at one point for the plane with a new set of engines, in flying condition. Even then it was for a PR tour, and would have ended up in a museum as a tax writeoff. Tu144 can't be FAA certified.

  • @1IronMaiden123 And that's why we, Russians hate the fucking liberal government who cares only about stealing money.

  • @qwertdr

yeah but russia has many many achievements and they are abandoned and ly in the grass rusting

  • @awaitingforsunrise That is reasonable. I fly from Florida to Los Angeles it takes with all the BS an entire day of travelling if I leave in the morning. Shame OPEC crashed the SST party in 1973. Maybe one can be made to run on some cheaper alternative fuel :)
