CHEN:
An Australian journalist is facing even more drug-related charges in Singapore today. Here's more on the case of Peter Lloyd.

STORY:
Peter Lloyd, a New Delhi-based correspondent for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation was arrested on July 16 in Singapore and charged with possessing and selling about 1 gram of methamphetamine. He was released on $44-thousand bail on Wednesday.

And newly released court documents say he's now facing three new charges... include one count of possessing tools containing traces of ketamine, one count of possession of tools containing traces of methamphetamine and one count of consumption of methamphetamine without authorization.

Lloyd's lawyer, Tan Jee Ming, could not comment on the new charges.

[Tan Jee Ming, Peter Lloyd's Lawyer]:
"Not qualified to do that, later later, he's great, he's feeling great and he thanks all of you for your support."

Lloyd already faces the possibility of a 20-year jail term and 15 strokes of the cane for possessing and selling methamphetamine.

The additional charge of consumption carries a maximum penalty of a 10-year jail term and a $14-thousand fine. The two charges of possessing drug paraphernalia carry a maximum punishment of three years in prison and a $7-thousand.

Singapore drug laws are some of the world's toughest. Anyone caught carrying more than 15 grams of heroin, 30 grams of cocaine, 500 grams of cannabis or 250 grams of methamphetamine faces a mandatory death sentence by hanging.

  • @kemzimist - you stupid asshole , we are talking punishment for drug and you donkey brain talking about war ? Are we on the same channel or are you high on drugs now?? WAKE UP!

  • In more civilzed parts of the world, people call the police. The criminal is arrested and put in jail. Then there is a trail and the criminal is condemned. We call that justice. But I understand, in the US you don't have this? You have to kill the criminal yourself?

  • To Singaporeans Cannabis is a lethal drug that can overdose and kill you, When you say ganja they immediately have this picture in their head about a Dodgy looking man with unshaven beard and dirty looking injecting something into their veins. MY GOD!!! DEATH FOR CANNABIS? THATS THE BIGGEST B.S I HAVE HEARD. Cannabis coffee shops in Amsterdam, 1000s of medical marijuana shops in USA, Legal to grow certain no. of Cannabis plant in Certain states of Australia and many more Lax laws but Singapore?

  • Singaporeans live in a shell of ignorance and narrow mindedness. Cant be help. You cant educate them, They are ruthless lousy people. Whose adventure is going on a short trip aboard living in a 3-5star hotel or going clubbing. hahha.. Thank God i left the shit hole Singapore.

  • @Timx4 Drug capital? Hahha.. Stop uttering b.s and if you are ignorant be it. But dont put your ignorance on others.

  • @Timx4 - nazi

  • @timx4 I was born in Singapore but i'm an Australian citizen now. you really sound brain washed mate. spouting that government bullshit about drugs.... stop making all us Singaporeans sound like a bunch of nerdy FOBS please. Do you know what a junkie is? I can get really cheap ounces of weed, shit loads of pingers and grams of go eey anytime I want.. And no I'm not junkie... I got a job, I workout 3 times a week at the gym and compete in Brazillian Jiujitsu. Junkie?? I'm more like a sick cunt

  • @calumkz I been to drug capital of Amsterdam. Sure is legal there. But to my own judgment, from the way you type you must be drug user. Hell what I can say to low life idiots like you. Seriously what does drug benefits a user other than medicional purposes? Getting high for no reason? The problem is drug dealers will also get to into the hands of our kids and end up being a junkie as grows- if he didn't get into drugs- who know he could be a professional or someone that benefits the society.

  • @Timx4 and you should grow some balls and grow up. fucking brainwashed idiot. clearly you have never left singapore and experienced something called THE WORLD where drugs are normal. death penalty is for murderers. if someone wants to smoke pot its up to them if they get sick because of it, whatever its their fault. again its another pathetic excuse for singapore to earn a little extra money.
