@AJVGirl AJV, to be honest, you are right and wrong at the same time. These hairstyles wouldve also been featured on tv shows, but that was back when all of tv was like a moving art canvas, not really based on reality or what was practical. So, you are right, hair in the 80's was experimental art. You are wrong though in assuming people ddint try to duplicate these styles, big hair did exist int eh 80's, however, to make this kind of hair wouldve taken alllot of time and money.

I saw a girl today with a beautiful long curly hairstyle; she was around 30ish or so I guess and was attractive too. This looked like an 80s style to me, or very similar if not.

Fair enough but maybe the title of this video should reflect that. I guess this might seem obvious to some, but not to the every day Joe like myself.

These pictures are from hairdresser trade and show magazines - they have "avant garde" sections for new hairdressers to make a name for themselves by demonstrating their creativity and originality.

looked like princess Diana @ 6:43

I was born in 1971 and I do not remember seeing anyone with most of those hairstyles. Also that horrible red hair was not as popular then as it is now; women had more blonde or brunette colours, oh and the perms were short curls or long wavey ones. Fringes were more fluffy looking or long flicks. I don't remember seeing women with the butch hairstyles like they do now, as there seem to be many in this video for some reason. I'm from the UK but even USA had nicer than what is shown here.

Some of these cuts are designed more like experimental art pieces than actual "practical" hairstyles you see in everyday life.
