Cornwall boasts a dramatic history shrouded in mystery and legend. These events of the past have been played out on one of the most picturesque landscapes in Britain. This programme looks back at the history of Cornwall and its people, tracing their roots and discovering what sets them apart from others. They also talk about the evocative Celtic atmosphere which has inspired countless poems, books and films.

More than a holiday destination, Cornwall is a land apart; and this documentary takes you there; touring the rugged cliffs, granite rock formations and crumbling tin mines.

  • Yes it was its own nation at one time. And I am not saying independence, I am saying home-rule. Home rule keeps Cornwall in the UK but gives it a devolved parliament(autonomy if you will).

  • Home Rule for Cornwall!

  • Cornwall is not a "county in England" as the man says, it is a duchy and may never have been formally incorporated into Wessex or England. However the media, ever at London's beck and call endlessly spout "county, county, county ..." even though this is offensive brainwashing. The Cornish language is officially recognised but the government refuses to recognise the Cornish people as an ethnic group.

  • The Duchy of Kernow much of the land is now owned by the Prince Charles of England. At least hes an organic farmer.

  • Home rule for the Celtic fringe is happening Wales and Scotland too...There tends to be more Germanic ,Jutes Danes and Saxons blood in the people of Angleland or England and more a recent Germanic Royal family.

  • @McAndy89 its kool cornwall used to be independent before the likes of England have a good look into cornish past very interesting

  • you do realise that the english are of celtic descent too?

  • @monkeyapplenerd Please dont get offended, I'm merely an observer, but how would Cornwall survive if it was separate from the rest of England?? Has it ever been independent?
