[Part 6 of 8] Missa Cantata, or sung Low Mass, offered on the Last Sunday after Pentecost at the Roman Catholic Parish of St. Nicholas of Chardonnet in Paris, France.

This is the Eucharistic liturgy of the Roman Rite of the Catholic Church celebrated according to the 1962 Roman Missal (Missale Romanum), also commonly referred to as the Tridentine Rite, or Tridentine Mass, or Tridentine Latin Mass, or Old Latin Mass, or classical Latin Mass, or Traditional Latin Mass (TLM).

This same Mass may be viewed or downloaded on Google as one full-length video: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1872714663680800365

A "missa cantata" is an approved form of celebration of the Traditional Roman Rite of Mass which serves as a compromise between a Low Mass (which involves no music or incense, by definition) and a Solemn High Mass (which has strict instructions and requirements for celebration that cannot be met in many parishes). For more information, please read this fine article in the 1913 Catholic Encyclopedia: http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/09790b.htm

The texts of the Latin prayers, and English translations of the same, which are common to every Traditional Latin Mass can be found here: http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/lmass/ord.htm

  • @umaara100 God bless you! And may He guide you in your discernment of joining the Catholic Church.

  • What must i do to believe in the real presence of christ in the bread and wine.Im thinking about joining the catholic church but i dont know.

  • Can someone tell me what it is they're singing as the 'communion' song? It should be 'amen dico vobis, quidquid orantes petitis, creditie quia accipietis, et fiet vobis' But i don't understand it. It's also polyphonic, which is weird.

Anyhow, long live our Pope and the FSSPX!

  • @wjweigand Of Hippo. It is in the office of readings. I can't remmeber what day.

  • @idle44 ????" Augustine says"???? St. Augustine from the 5th century? Can you clarify which Saint your are talking about please?

  • @wjweigand Today Benedict celebrated Mass in Westminster Cathedral. Better music than I think he has heard elsewhere in Music and the ArchB. of Canterbury was there after a very emotional Evening prayer in the Abbey. Null & Void yes but as St . Augustine says ' they are our brothers if they preach Christ , true God & true man and pray the Our Father.'

  • Well the Pope has declared that in brining back the Anglican Church that he will establish an Anglican rite of the Catholic Church. Just like the Pope established an Eastern Rite of the Catholic Church many years ago. So they will still keep their ceremonies with certain exceptions.

  • "Reinstated" kneeling for Communion??? are you kidding me? He put on a show at one of the Baseball Park messes.... big deal.

And as far as "true" Anglican Church goes, first off Pope Leo XIII already declared ALL Anglican orders Null and Void. Secondly, as far as Anglicans go, the High Anglican Church (if they have an ounce of brains) won't have anything to do with the N.O. They (The High Anglican Church) have too much class and reverence despite their invalid orders.
