Participation: I Have A Voice by the Petaling Jaya Child Council

In the year 2009, the first Children's Forum was held at Petaling Jaya.
In this forum, the children and youth who attended came up with the idea of having a Child Council that would work with the local government to tackle the issues that young people face, to give children and youth a voice and an avenue for them to actively participate in the development and change in the city that will eventually be theirs to inherit.

Today, in the year 2011, that idea of a Child Council from the minds and hearts of those young people, have become a reality.

The Petaling Jaya Child Council works to raise the social consciousness of the Rights and Roles of children and youth and empowering them to be active agents of change in their communities.

Being a child, or youth, or young person today in society, we have never really been given the opportunity to have our voices heard, to have our actions be something of great importance and contribution to our society, there has been no platform for us to express ourselves in positive ways of change.

But today, is a new day.
You have a voice.
Your actions and participation plays a vital role in the betterment of our future, of our city, of our world.

Work with us and be a part of this movement to further establish the Right to Participation and A Voice of children and youth in communities all over.
