The Wogglebug provides the pitch CV for the Plan B VCO and it's LFO triggers the Plan B EG. The Wogglebug's clock is getting modulated by the second Woggle's CV. Hence the random timing. The sine wave oscillator goes through the Doepfer Wave Mult to give it that unique tone. From there it runs to a Plan B MultiMode VCF and finally to the Plan B Lowpass Gate which gives it that "plucky" sound due to it's Vactrol circuitry. The EG has an extremely quick and snappy response. You can hear it especially when the Wogglebug's rate goes a bit crazy and accelerates. The EG stays nimble and doesnt get mushy.

  • Great video, just got a copy of Allen's book, its a must for any modular / synth head. Cant wait to try some of the patches from it.

  • @deadlover73 Thanks. I agree, Allen's book is certainly a must. Lots of great info in there. From basic/fundamental stuff to more advanced territory (w/patch examples of course). Some of those patches are lots of fun. Enjoy it!

  • Thanks rezzn8r. Yeah, out of all of the SOU "inspired" modules out there, I'd say that the Woggle has definitely gotten the _closest_ to the organic randomness of the 265.

  • I should mention.... This is a classic patch out of Allen Strange's seminal book; "Electronic Music". The example in the book uses a Buchla 265 Source of Uncertainty where I use the Wogglebug.

  • Damn I love the Model 13 gate! Sounds so organic and plucky! The wogglebug is pretty cool, sorta like my Model 24, but different.

  • Yes, the Model 13 is very organic and can be plucky if you want it to be. I have a Model 24 as well. Very similar to the Woggle but like you said; different. They both aim at doing the same thing but still have their own vibe.

  • Nice sounds

The woggle is a great substitution for the SOU

  • Every demo of Plan B kit I've heard amazes me. I've never heard synthesis quite like it. These sounds are eerily similar to an acoustic plucked string sound.

  • Glad you enjoyed it Mike.

  • A classic Buchla patch without the Buchla! The smooth CV is one of the best inventions yet in electronic music. Good work!
