  • @napcomplex you do realize that those "idiots" that sample are the ones that introduce an artist's music to a new generation of people that may have never heard of him, her or them, right??? Not everyone was around when these folks were doing their thing but sampling is a way to connect the past with present and future generations... Just a thought.

  • The Late "Brother" Jack McDuff seems to be in short supply on YouTube. Is it being taken down, or not being put up?

I'd love to see/hear the tunes off his "Hot Barbeque" album if someone still has it.

  • @aone415 So true. As someone who wasn't born till way after most of these guys were gone, for music lovers of my generation samples are an imperative part. Digging into Jazz and Soul would be significantly more difficult with out the jazz sample craze in hip hop of the late 1980s and early 1990s, you also mustn't forget drum n bass. Yes these guys should get credited and paid for their samples, but I feel samples can help give recognition and open jazz to a whole new generation.

  • @aone415 ....that's the best thing about it all.

  • @TurtleTeri

Thanks. I've since picked it up to replace my original LP.

  • @colsnake331 You can buy it! I did and L-o-v-e it.

  • @aone415 YES. YES YES and so much YES. I hate when people knock on Madvillian, People Under The Stairs etc etci ANY HIP HOP ARTIST that connects the past with present and future, as you eloquently put it. People please SHUT THE **** UP complaining about hip hop artists. They revive great music.

Hell DR DRE sample Donny Hathaway, great track check it out "Lil' Ghetto Boy"

  • @aone415 yes, you're right, but just like you may have done, can't they just look by themself the origin of what they listen to? Where today's music come from, and where it is now. By the way, i personaly think we went backward.. i mean less and less originalities, surprises... (sorry for my english, i'm french)

  • HMMM! I LIKE IT!

  • @colsnake331 Because most of the idiots on youtube are only looking for music thats been sampled. Reducing an artists whole career down to 1-4 bars looped smh. I actually have and love Brother Jacks work
