I think people forget how really successful Dionne was at the height of her fame. Yes even more successful than Aretha between 62-72. Dionne was 7 out of those ten years sold more records than any other female singer in America the other years she was second. That's why Warner Bros signed her to the biggest deal ever for a woman in 72'. BB/HD broke up and Dionne's career hit a wall until Arista. Which is why Aretha wanted to be on the label because of Dionne success there...according to Aretha.

You are so delusional. There is no way Aretha's voice is better than Dionne's. But what make Aretha a better singer and more successful than Dionne is that her creativity when delivering the song, also Dionne made a lot of wrong song choices throughout her career, while Aretha's music is always suit for her and suit for the audiences at that time. Dionne's crystal clear voice and extraordinary range when she was young is just incredible, no way Aretha's voice can touch it.
