I assume this is the control arm, and that's a gasket or whatever, that failed.

  • After 10 years those upper bushings are all JUNK! I put the moog problem solver ones on my wagon, they are made of better rubber and I hope they wont crack out and distort as fast as the originals.

  • I'd also check the lower control arm bushing and the ball joints.

    I had the same issue on a 72 Nova and ended needing to replace them as well.

    All those bushings are probably the same age so you might want to replace both sides which is what I did.
