Richter was very good for Rangers in winning Cup in 1994 and Vanbiesbrouck was amazing for Panthers in 1996 (albeit in loss to Colorado in Final), but for Rangers in 1992 both were decidedly less effective. Pens were an odd team back in early 1990s: they won back-to-back Cups after barely surviving 1st round series to Devils in 1991 and Capitals in 1992 but then had their best team and greatest regular season in 1993 only to fall to Isles in stunning OT defeat in Game 7 of 2nd round.
@lyeball yes, because turning your argument around, the Pens are the only team that ever had a player like Matt Cooke on its roster... nice logic, dumbass...
2:55 Did he just call Jagr, "Hrdina?" I know it can be tough to identify players from way up there but isn't Jagr one of the easiest players to identify?
Wait, what? A fan of the team that has Matt Cooke as an alternate captain says "You can't win by playing cheap"? Do you have a tremendous sense of humor, or are you just intensely stupid?
What was Richter doing so far out of the net in the first place on that fluke goal? And yes, the Rangers beat themselves in that series. Series lead, 2 goal lead 3x in the game, couldn't recover.
@bbasher79 While that goal ranks as one of my all time "gut punch" moments as a sports fan. (Since more than any team I live & die with NYR) I cld never hate Ron Francis... A greatly skilled, classy player. I hate the goal he scored... but as a hockey fan, I admire the player.
@stormcrow7878 If not for that Francis goal, the Rangers probably win this series against the Penguins, and possibly the cup (I believe the Rangers were the best team in the NHL in 1992. The won The Presidents Trophy for most points).
I still hate Francis to this day, more than any other Penguin.

Rangers could have won the Cup this year if Richter didn't let that shitty goal by Francis in, but he made up for it in 94.

Poetic justice. You live by the sword, you DIE by the sword Rangers. You can't win by playing cheap. Go Pens!

This series is the reason I hate Pittsburgh so much. If it wasn't for the lockout that disrupted the season I think the Rangers would've won it.
