Shot with the Canon 5d Mk II in the evening on March 10 then time-lapsed. This was on Pughole Lake. I drove up there after seeing an aurora glow from my house in town. The event slowly intensified, then around 10:45 PM, a sudden burst of aurora occurred, and they filled the entire northern half of the sky. It then retreated back to the north but continued to have occasional brighter bursts. This video was shot in two segments. Both were shot at f2.8, ISO 1600. The first segment was shot with the 24-70 mm zoom at 32mm, and the second was with the 16-35mm lens, set at 16mm after the aurora had filled more of the sky. Most exposures were 13 seconds, but I dropped down to 8-second exposures for a while when they were really bright.

I did the time lapse by combining the individual shots (about 500 of them) into videos using Adobe Photoshop. I combined the two video segments together and slowed them down a bit using Adobe Premiere (CS5).
