The Dominican Order is all over the globe besides living in commune (convent) their mission is to preach the truth of Jesus Christ. The initials after their names O.P. stand for Order of the Preacher.

Another question (I'm thinking about joining the OP), do you do missionary work in other countries as well or do you only stay in a monastery? Evangelization would be something that is of great interest to me...

yes, at the shrine of our lady of the rosary in manaoag, pangasinan. we have our dominican novitiate of the annunciation there. hope you can visit us there someday :-)
