I've gotten too many comments and PMs asking about the "safety" that keeps the 1911 from firing out of battery. I hope this video sheds a little light on the subject.

  • I think the point she is trying to make is that safeties are not part of the function of a gun firing. Both definitions are correct.

  • very informative great vid, keep it coming

  • Hi there. Great video. Why does the disconnector fall down in battery during function testing. And sometimes the disconnector wont rise up causing the hammer not to fall when trying to pull the trigger and dry fire. How does someone remedy this problem?

  • I'm subscribing because of this video. :)

  • Baby talk makes my gun wood shrivel and die.

  • Nice video, and great explanation. However, in the interest of maintaining proper firearm nomenclature, I must point out that there is no such thing as a "sear disconnect" on the 1911 pistol. The part being referenced is the "Disconnector." This may seem like a small point, but I think it important to call a spade a spade. A "clip" is not a "magazine," nor is a "disconnector" a "sear disconnect." Otherwise a decent post.

  • Awesome video! Thank you!

  • "dont cut my mom off on the way to school" haha, i bet thats what your kid will say to his friends

  • actually its my fathers gun who passed away last year,he was a retired policeman.he was the 1 who disable the grip safety, maybe its bcoz hes always in undercover duty...anyway how can i bring back the grip safety??

  • @163nel no have you tried to do a trigger job on it or anything it is safe to fire its just the safety isn't working

  • im new to guns safety, but i own 1.my guns hammer slams even though im not touching the grip safety....is it ok?
