Wow, thought provoking. Ann Ryand, I just sense (but what do I know?) she has an extreme view. I think that we might also look into the purpose of our capacity for empathy. Example : If I were to reach out to save someone else's life in an emergency , I don't ask them to first complete an interview to determine if they are "worthy" of saving by my own criteria. But ofcourse in ordinary circumstances, it is important to examine our motives whenever we reach out to help or meet another.
