  • The Brits only have american made subs... France has probably the best though

  • @sidewinder188 Abrams tanks, for example, wouldn't have world class armour if it wasn't for Britain! :-P

  • @sidewinder188 Seawolf could be argued to be almost as good as Astute, but Virginia is a joke compared to Astute...typical Yank bias! Trafalgar is newer and far more advanced than the aging Los Angeles class. Trafalgar is 5 years newer than Los Angeles, and has just had a refit with the same level of systems as the Astute. You're talking bullshit mate... Try not to do it again. The Electric Boat division helped, but then BAE makes shit for America all the time!

  • @samuraikensai The most advanced and powerful sub is the Seawolf Class followed by Virgina and Astute. Trafalgar is not as advanced and capable as Los Angeles Class.

The US NAVY had the perfect trio with Los Angeles-Seawolf-Virginia.

The Astute Class which was already two years late could not have been created without the vital engineering and technical support provided by the Electric Boat division.

  • @OlderG0ds Trafalgar class are VERY advanced subs, with a similar level of equipment to the Astute since their upgrade...). Astute is a brand new boat, whereas Virginia is just a downgraded Seawolf... Therefore, Virginia is not brand new...it's an alteration of another design... General Dynamics are excellent, but they're not better than our guys... It's just that sometimes you need a fresh set of eyes to look at a problem.

  • @samuraikensai Saying Astute is 1 is one thing, but Trafalgar at 2? You may as well say "Ignore me, I'm biased as hell"...

When the UK ran into a brick wall with designing and building the Astute who did they call? General Dynamics Electric Boat the same company behind the Virginia and Seawolf submarines. They are the best in the business. BAE Systems knows this.

And what's this about the Astute is the only brand new sub? Virginia came out the same exact time.

  • I think the best submarine in europe is akula III class the K-335 Gepard, that sub is fast, silent and big, carry lot of weapons, and can dive to a depth! but i also like the virginia class and the loa angeles class and the british submarine classes.

  • @chezzylee HMS Ambush IS an Astute Class sub...

  • @8497289 Actually, the Astute would be number 1...Trafalgar would be number 2, then Seawolf at number 3, Virginia at number 4...you might make a case for Los Angeles at number 5. Virginia is a downgraded Seawolf, and Astute is the only state of the art brand new sub here.
