  • why did you literally copy derrens patter to this? couldve been so much better if you made your own

  • David,

if you take a look in the video info, i credit the use of the story. i used Derrens story simply because someone in the audience that night had asked me if I had anything related to Derren Brown, hence why i used the story. as stated in a lot of replies this is an older version of this routine. i will be posting a new one in the next few months. new patter, shorter, using both advice from other viewers and fellow magicians. thanks for watching.

  • Is this the actual Control method? I'm interested in purchasing but not sure if as a beginner to no-gimmick magic I'm not sure if I could pull it off! Would be able to tell me if it is infact easy to acheive??

Great vid by the way 5 star

  • Strider4660,

Thank you for your rating and thanks for tuning in. Yes, this is the actual method taught on 'Control' by Wayne Houchin. The method itself is VERY easy, however it has a lot to do with presentation. If you take a look at a lot of the other comments here, you will see that a lot of people suggested that I make a number of changes, which i have been doing. and will be posting a new video in the next few months. Read the comments, take some of those tips and have fun with it!

  • For those of you saying the illusion was too 'long', I think that wasn't the issue. The performance should be longer because it's such a good effect, you need the climax to be really shocking, when she stops counting. I think, though, he should have played with it a bit more at the end- many magicians like to pretend it makes them extremely tired and it takes up a whole bunch of energy. just a friendly suggestion :] It's a great routine!!

  • SkepticalMouse,

Thank you for the kind words and advice. As ive said before, this is a very old version of my presentation and a new, fresh update is in the works. Thanks for watching. :)

  • shaggywann,

by the use of 'astonisher' it seems you may be familiar with Paul Harris? I would like to thank you for your kind words and helpful hints, i will be posting a new performance of 'Control' in the next month or so. Thank you again. And thanks for watching.

  • dinnohim,

You are right about one thing, it is a very simple effect. however, that is not the method used here. if you would like some more information on the effect check out Wayne Houchin's, 'Control' DVD. As for the story, if you take a look over in the video info box, I state right there, that it is in fact Derren Browns story that I used. Length? Yes, this version was far too long, I have since refined the routine and my entire show and made it much more interactive and smoother.

  • ping pong ball up ur armpit will stop the pulse. just in case anyone doesnt know how he does it!!!!

the simpliest trick with the minimal effect, whole thing took so long, and ur stage presence dun seem to connect with the audience. plus u seem a little boring and dull when performing. and it would be nice if u do ur own act rather than actually copying what derren brown said..

    amateure

  • I understand the reasoning...

but as an entertainer and fellow Astonisher...

Too long. If people were in an open-aired situation... they wouldn't sit... people in a bar wouldn't stay.

Pace is EVERYTHING. Don't get me wrong.....

You are GOOD!!! Don't get Butt-hurt and sensitive and defensive... just learn from the mistakes of tried-and-true veterans. Wayne Houchin's version is a THIRD the time....

He's rich for a reason!! TRUST me...too long. Use the "victim's" reaction to cause the tension
