Ryan Burrage on Alto Sax, Jacques Gauthe on Clarinet, Jim Hession on Piano and Will Buckingham on Bass. One of those great fun nights at Fritzel's while the "Three Musketeers" try to get one up on the other, trying to see who could make the other ones laugh!

  • Man I love jazz at Fritzels. Sure do miss Dutch and his partner Francis and Jack Maheu playin, seems like part of the old girls soul is gone.

  • I agree and I'm afraid the rest of Fritzels musical soul has now departed: our group under Ryan Burrage completed its long running engagement at Fritzel's late last month. Jacques Gauthe will always be remembered as an integral force in our group: dedicated to putting life, energy, excitement and high quality musicianship into every performance. As Jack Maheu's pianist for years prior to his stroke, I can vouch for the same musical integrity on his part throughout his long career.

  • Who's The "Dr." In The House?

  • The song that they are playing is,

"Hello Central, Give Me Dr. Jazz".

  • The diagnosing physician was Joe "KING" Oliver, pre-eminent jazz trumpeter up to Louis Armstrong. The operating physician was Jelly Roll Morton, whose vocal with the Red Hot Peppers made jazz history in 1927. Scapel, please.....

  • I had the pleasure and privilege of playing tenor sax with Jacques Guathe and Ryan Burrage in this Band at Fritzels in Nov 2006. Definitely 1 of the highlights of my musical career. Sad to hear of Jacques' passing - thanks for this great posting !

  • Jacques was a joy to work with. I still find myself laughing out loud when I think of some of the shenanigans that happened when playing with Jacques on the front line. Jacques was the real deal, he had the "authenticity" and the enjoyment of good music.

  • Oh no, thats horrible we are coming down to NOLA again this year for our anniversary. We are supposed to be their Wednesday thru Sunday. Another of my long standing traditions has now passed, With the passing of Francis and Dutch the German beer and Schnapps went away and now even Jazz at Frizels is passing by the way side. I wish your group the best of luck and if you happen to be playing elsewhere in the quarter please let me know where your at.
