This was the most powerful tactical bomber ever made. It had a hue range, over a 6000 km and a huge weapons payload, over 14 tonnes. Replacing it with the F-15E was a big mistake. The F-15E doesn't even have half the capabilities of the F-111.

OOPSIEOOPSIE: You are correct, but that's what the "F" means. It was designated as a fighter to get around agreements with Russia as to how many bombers each country could build and maintain.

I don't think you can call the F-111 a fighter by a long shot. It's a strike aircraft.
