but the alcohal stove ....you can raid a gas station for more fuel ...i think alcohal stove would be better than esbit and gas stove ....their are ways to refuel a alcohal stove in a doomsday event

@gasdorf There is also ways to make a alcohol stove from cans that you find laying around everyday.... That method is not out of the question... Im just not packing it in my bug out bag.... If the time comes when I need one,cans are everywhere.... Its good to learn different ways of doing things,testing them out and decide whats best for you...I know I can make a alcohol stove when ever I want in a bug out situation......... coleman f1 stove can boil in 3 min ...i think titanium is lighter and heats quicker than steel...check my video on my channel for coleman f1

@offthegridsurvival the esbit tablets were 4.95 for 6.. Its a little bit more expensive than the trioxine tablets... I get 3 of those for 1.95,but I think they are only good for heating food....Plus the trioxine stinks really bad when burning....lol.....You can pick up the esbit tablets at any army surplus store,but if you cant find them let me know and I'll send ya some to try out.........

speed<versatility much rather a stove that is Multi-fuel than canister that runs out i dont mind if it takes 10 min as long as it gets boiled. but to each his own

Might also want to test the heater that comes in MREs and see if/how long it takes to boil a bottle's worth of water. Otherwise, interesting test. I agree with the other comment about using a round pot with lid. It'll speed boil time. Also use a wind screen. Those Esbits are nice... and super light. For short-term, they look excellent. How long did it burn, and can you extinguish and reuse one if it isn't consumed. At 14 minutes, that's almost enough for 3 burns to bring water to boiling.

maybe the second one you did needed the canteen 2 inches off so the tablet could get air and give off a hotter flame

Thanks for this vid, I love different methods of doing things and seeing 4 different types at once is cool and informative. Of course you can make a fire in long term survival but for fast and undercover scenario those esbit tabs are pretty cool and handy. A fire can be seen from a distance when you could use this in a closet. Good vid.

No surprises with your test. If your really looking for the fastest boil time then ditch the canteen cup and find a pot with a cover. The funky shape of the canteen cup wastes a lot of heat because it doesn't cover the burner.
