Extended interview of Zack Rosenburg, co-founder of the St. Bernard Project based in Chalmette.
In August 2005, Hurricanes Katrina and Rita devastated homes and lives across the Gulf Coast. St. Bernard Parish, a community adjacent to New Orleans Lower 9th Ward, is arguably the area hardest hit by the floods. 100% of all residences and businesses flooded.
In response to the overwhelming need for rebuilding assistance, the St. Bernard Project began rebuilding/renovating homes in August 2006. Since that time they have helped more than 70 families move back home and another 22 families are on their way.

  • We would like to pay our deepest respects to the displaced and lost of the New Orleans area and all the Gulf coast communities, and express our gratitude to the many souls who did not lose faith in themselves to help rebuild where our government failed to help. The struggle continues . . . we need to fight together and prepare for the next catastrophe.

  • @nycolombian91 St Bernard Parish was 89% white when Katrina hit. The demographics of St Bernard showed this. This video is specifically talking about St. Bernard.

  • great job

  • im sorry. your comment was just so fucken stupid if you think it was 89 percent white affected and 11 percet black

  • God bless you,St.Bernard Project. This video should be shown across the country as the media mislead everyone into believing the only victims of Katrina were the black folks looking for a hand out.I lived in St.Bernard(Chalmette)when Katrina hit.I lost everything. The majority of ppl were hard working citizens. This community was 89% white, had 22ft surge and stayed flooded for weeks.100% damaged. The Canadian Mounties arrived on the 5th day to help. How is it that they reached us b4 our own gov did?

  • I am angry that the Bush Administration didn't do nearly enough to help, but then again what do you expect from money/power hungry racists who turn a blind eye to suffering and despair because theyre too busy with lying to us about nearly EVERYTHING they have done during these 8 years to get what they want. Phew!

  • Liz and Zack are great. They were rebuilding houses in St. Bernard Perish when no else was, even if ut meant the two of alone in a house drywalling. I have volunteered with them extensively. They give all of themselves to the project and if you donate to them I can garentee that 100 percent of your money goes to the families.

  • Super hero's all of them, the St Bernard Project.

I have just now seen a special report on the work you guys and Gal's are doing, never say die!
