Sorry I ranted so much the other day. I just don't feel it is right for people to hammer on Christians who did not destroy their marriages but were rejected by an unfaithful spouse and later remarried. I probably should be more understanding toward those who judge and not be so fierce since even though they may seem mean and judgmental and dishonest, they are usually trying to do something good. It's just that the error is so dangerous and hurtful.

Some believe Jesus did not allow divorce or that He did not allow marriage after divorce. Others believe Jesus said you could not divorce and remarry except for cause of adultery. And some go through a long speel about the cause being fornication during betrothal. While I wish no disrespect or ill-will toward anyone, I really don't give a rip of some people claim I'm in adultery. My ex left me for an affair. I waited years and took the ring off when I felt God telling me to, and I remarried

@danieljdick My first marriage ended in the same way - and we weren't even believers - so about a decade after my divorce - I met Diana in the HJD God Chat... I realized God led me to a woman I needed, and it was obvious she needed me as well... and we married... were we wrong? If we were I know He forgives... if we weren't - that explains all the blessings He's bestowed upon us...

Both my family and my spouse's family were raised in church. Both my brother and sister have been divorced and remarried. 3 of my spouse's siblings have been divorced. One of those has remarried. Why does the church no longer take a stand against divorce? Those who suffer the most are the children of divorce. There shoud really be a law against divorce.

If you stand against divorce, you risk losing tithes and offerings... and most churches want that cash... still - I know our church opposes divorce and will do what ever they can to help resolve issues leading to divorces... if my church does it I am sure others do too...

Beyond this, Bigmanjoe, I don't need your agreement or approval, and the fact that you rattle of your words of accusation and slander and judgment does not mean you have the power to send someone to hell for disagreeing with you. I will never defend the right to be unfaithful in marriage. But, I will defend the right of those who have been violated by adultery and divorce to remarry legitimately, and so will God. And God won't appreciate you twisting His words to force your views on others.

As for reading the NIV too much, the word "pornea" is not an English word translated from Greek. It is a Greek word translated into, um, Greek. I don't care what translation you use. If you compare scripture with scripture to reach a consistent understanding upholding all scripture, you cannot throw out Deut. 24. Nor can you throw out Jesus words, "except for reason of 'pornea' -- sexual immorality".

Bigmanjoe, I agree with you when you come against all the spouse swapping and divorce, but you have not been honest or fair in distinguishing between the victims and the perpetrators and because of that you are incredibly cruel and unreasonable to those who have been hurt deeply by this betrayal. Furthermore, your arguments support and defend the narcissistic by making them feel entitled to cheat on their families while their spouses are under obligation to put up and wait.

Bigmanjoe, Your words are like the devil telling people how to obey God. First you rip into the NIV when the Word of God comes against your Pharisaical and ungodly demands, and then you tell people who are saved by the grace of God and who have honestly sought after God that they are not indeed saved but are living in sin,. Your words are the words of the accuser of the brethren. If your judgments were right and Biblical, you'd bring conviction, but your cruel dishonest bring irritation.

@danieljdick Do yourself a favor stop reading the NIV. Oh yeah marriage represents Christ relationship with his Church! Sorry marriage is for life period whether it is Justice or the peace a budhist temple where ever!

And we dont live in the Old testament my friend. Jesus is about forgiveness repentance and RECONCILIATION!!!! ( NOT DIVORCE! For if that is so then Jesus can divorce when we are unfaithful to him! which is daily!)

Old testament we can divorce new testament we can not Jesus brings back the standard set in Genesis! Even God said in Jerimaiah chapter 3 even though i divorced you repent and turn back to me for I am STILL MARRIED TO YOU!

Romans chapter 7 says a woman is bound to the law as long as her husband liveth

She goes remarry while her husband is still alive she will be called an adulteress

sorry but marriage is for life there is no divorce (but you can separate)go ahead get and remarry you will be an adulterer in Gods and will burn in hell. If you have kids in remarriage while your husband or wife is alive then they will be bastards out of wed lock in the eyes of God!
