The Solitary Sandpiper breeding range is virtually confined to within North America's Boreal Forest Region. It migrates south every fall to its wintering grounds in Central and South America. This individual was videotaped at a stop-over saltmarsh in coastal Maine as it migrated south fairly late in the season. Read more about this bird and other birds that rely on the wetlands and waterways of the Boreal Forest in the recently released Birds At Risk report at: http://www.borealbirds.org/report-birdswater.shtml
