Japanese hair straightening, also known as thermal reconditioning. It is a very popular process from Japan that promises to turn curly hair straight. With thermal reconditioning, your hair becomes silky, smooth, and shiny.

This process is different from that of using relaxers to smooth out the hair. Chemicals are applied, the hair is ironed, piece by piece, and then rinsed and blow dried. The procedure takes a good few hours, depending on the length, thickness and condition of one's hair.

Before the treatment, hairstylists need to diagnose the hair accurately, then decide which products to use, adjust their flat-iron technique and determine processing time.

After the treatment, the hair becomes more manageable and looks healthier. To get the best result of thermal reconditioning, it is crucial to use the right products, the right technique, and most importantly, to choose the right hairstylist with extensive knowledge and experience of this treatment.

  • Of course, many men do it, even kids too. 6 inches is more than enough. You can call for appointment 416-803-2882. Thanks.

  • also after putting int he chemical straightener, when you go to rinse it do you use shampoo and conditioner? or just a plain water rinse? And after rinsing the neutralizer do you also put shampoo and conditioner or only rinse with water? Thank you!

  • @purpleshik

Sorry, I just can't go too technical here. When you call for consultation, I can let you know. Since I got so many hairdressers tried to learn from me in a sneaky way. I hope that you can understand. Besides, I don' t think a customer needs to know so details of each steps. Most customers only care about the results. Only hairdressers need to know the details.

  • I am a metal guitarist and I'm of Indian Origin and I have really thick Hair! I just wanted your advice , since I do a lot of headbanging and gigs how long should I wait after the rebounding to start gigging again ! that is I can start Waving my hair and stuff without damaging it!

  • Can men also get this treatment? My hair is 6 inches long, so is that enough? I'm interested in having it done (at your salon) so please let me know! Thank you.

  • thank you so much for your reply and help :-) so it is okay to put the chemical all over the hair that castrated before too and it wont make it go curly or anything? if the hair looks healthy you don't need to apply the protection cream on hair that it already straightened? Its not absolutely necessary to put protection on hair that had the treatment when doing a retouch right?

  • @baystategal

Most hair will look nice after JHS, yes, sometimes it may be a bit funny when it grows out but still better than what they had originally. Most people usually come back after a year except people with super kinky hair right from the roots. Price is determined by the hours we have to put in. I want to emphasize, most people don't require a "retouch" since they come back after a year, it is a "redo". So, most black hair needs "retouch", others "redo".

  • @purpleshik

Generally, black hair needs a retouch about 4 -6 months, other hair types after 9 months should do the whole hair again, when you come for consultation, I will let you know, if your ends are really straight, there is no point of putting chemicals again on that part but really, every situation is different. If you are not sure, you can call for a free consultation, no obligation at all. 416-803-2882

  • @purpleshik

It really depends. Some people thought they only need a retouch when they only see their front top, it looks like only a couple of inches, however, when I checked their back, it gone down to maybe 6 - 8 inches already. I did have a client before who insisted to do a retouch when I told her she needs to have the whole thing redone. She then called me about a month later and told her I was right and she ended up coming back to do the whole hair again very soon.
