CORRECTION: In the end credits, there was a typo for EvelinaGaina Entertainment. Please note that this is the correct spelling, and we sincerely apologize to EvelinaGaina Entertainment for the misspelling.

www.GoingBerdy.com, where fans of Sean Berdy from all over the world gather!

Going Berdy has a wonderful opportunity to interview Sean Berdy, who plays "Emmet Bledsoe" from "Switched at Birth". We were allowed to ask 5 questions, but we were only able to record as of part of the 2nd question.

WHY IS THERE NO SOUND?
We removed the sound so as not to confuse those who are reading the subtitles. There was an interpreter, but not everything that Sean said was translated orally, so we had to redo the translation for completeness. The interpreter who helped in translating the second time around is Jennifer. I (Kat, GB Admin) also translated a little bit.

WHY SO FEW QUESTIONS?
We were asked to limit our questions to 5 maximum. We can only pray that we will have yet another opportunity such as this to interview Sean again, but in a more laid back state.

  • This show has indeed inspired me to learn ASL. I just don't know where to begin though!.....And Emmet is a total cutie! :)

  • @mzmoett - There are, in my experience, two ways to start. What I did was just jump right in and joined an ASL meet-up group (you can search for one on meetup.com). They welcome anyone of any ASL level, and I was at level zero when I started. When you jump right in, it forces you to watch and learn the signs. If you're a little nervous about that idea, you can always take ASL classes in school or college. :) DO research about the Deaf community in your area too. It helps. ;) ~Kat

  • I took ASL in high school. And my teacher was deaf. And personally, I loved it. I was pretty good at picking up what she was saying, because unlike the other kids, I didn't just watch her hands, I watched her face, watched the emotion she put into it. We really bonded. :) unfortunately they cut the class, so I didn't get to learn to my full potential. But, I honestly love ASL, and the deaf culture, and community.

  • @mrcourtneycassidy - Don't give up! I know it can be tricky to find an ASL class if the school cuts it, but there are ways to learn. You can go to meetup.com to see if there are any ASL meetups groups you can join. Just being there will help you pick up new signs, and more importantly, you get to practice a lot. Remember what Emmett told Bay? It's really about practice. :) ~Kat

  • does he ever really speak like katie does? or is it like in the show were he doesnt like speaking?

  • @shesacountrygirl100 - He can speak but not like Katie because Katie was born hearing. She is still able to hear somewhat but she's beginning to lose it. Still, she has had many years of hearing so she knows how to sound words like a hearing person. Sean however was born deaf and is able to hear a little with his hearing aids. But that's not to say he doesn't speak. He does, and he speaks quite a bit, according to Vanessa Marano, just not like Katie. :)
