Used to fly in these all the time when I was in the army (UK). When you are on top of a mountain in Bosnia and u hear that unmistakable sound coming to pick u up is such a relief. Used to get very nervous in the back though when they start throwing it about and ur hanging on for dear life.

In the U.S. Army they have a Crew Chief/Flight Engineer and also a Door Gunner in hostile environments.

haha, made my day xD
-
haha! Meant to catch things that are thrown by crowds that boo-ed the Chinook
-
FFS he is a Weapons Systems Operator, a posh name for a door gunner/crewman. they arnt crew chief, air loadmaster or flight engineers!
I should know!
-
Every chinook has two flight engineers!!!
-
Chinnoks don't have flight engineers, no RAF helicopters do. As dahed said, he is an airloadmaster, or crewman specifically,as air loadmaster is more a fixed wing term.
MY WIFE IS DEAD SCARED OF THESE !
