In that case, I can agree WHERE you work, WHO you work for, and WHAT you do determines how "low" your GMAT can be. Admissions acceptances are essentially based on your level of "employability". They want to protect their "rankings" smh...

I have done the research. I even know last year's min was 490. Those people must be some nuclear scientist or something and do not have a average profile like me with 5-6 years work ex in IT industry.

Actually you are incorrect. I personally know people who scored less than 600 and got into HBS, Ross, Wharton, Goizueta, and Darden. And no they were not all 590's, in fact some were 540's and 570's so you should take the time to do MORE research. As im sure you've heard even people who score 780+ DO NOT get into your H/W/S. So it is in fact true the GMAT is only one of the many components of an application.

"GMAT is only one of the components and not the only component" is totally incorrect. 100% business schools say it upfront not to apply if you score is any less than 600 regardless of your profile. Even if you had a good career, very clear goals what to get out of MBA and a road map after that. Adcom needs to stop misleading people. You should clearly mention that if you score is less than 600 do not apply.
