Hi, yes it is the real gyroscope. The iphone4 has a gyroscope chip built in, thats what makes this so much more accurate than the accelerometer based apps...

Sony ericsson vivaz u5i can do this, it comes with an app called WATER LEVEL

I heared about MEMS technology before but i ignored the technological developemnt in this field, since i never had used chips of that technology in my designs. I was convinced that the program gets data from clinator MEMS chips, that use earth gravity as reference, which by the way would also work fantastic. THis iphone would, i would assume also work in zero gravity

@damianplur You should still load the app! Its way more accurate than the physical one because of the gyroscope, and its only 99c.
