The United Nations "international" style is captured here with photographs taken at UNESCO headquarters in Paris. The building which opened in 1958 is a modernist architecture gem conceived by Marcel Breuer and Bernard Zehrfuss. Walter Gropius, Le Corbusier, Ernesto Rogers, Sven Markelius and Lucio Costa were also involved in the early phases of the project.
The UN Style goes far beyond its original modernist roots. Its aesthetic is dominated by shades of browns, greys and beiges, with cluttered archiving spaces and long hallways where staff members name plates and room numbers align in the distance.
